The agreement

These terms, together with our Privacy Policy, are the whole agreement between you and Lumi for use of the service. They are governed by the law of England and Wales, and the courts of England and Wales have jurisdiction.

Nothing in these terms affects your statutory rights as a consumer.

Eligibility and your account

You must be 13 or over to hold an account. If you are under 18, you confirm that a parent or guardian is aware you are using Lumi and agrees to these terms on your behalf.

Your account is personal to you. Keep access to your sign-in email and Google account secure, do not share sign-in links or let anyone else use your account, and tell us promptly if you think someone has gained access to it.

Where an account has been provided to you by a school or college, that institution's agreement with us also applies.

What Lumi is, and what it is not

Lumi is a study aid. It explains topics, draws them out and tests your understanding.

Lumi is generated by an AI model and can be wrong, including confidently wrong. It is not a substitute for your specification, your textbook or your teacher, and you should check anything that matters against them. We do not warrant that its output is accurate, complete or suitable for any particular exam.

Lumi is not professional advice of any kind, whether medical, legal, financial or otherwise, regardless of what you ask it.

Acceptable use

Use Lumi to learn. Do not use it to harass anyone, to generate unlawful or harmful material, to attempt to extract our underlying prompts or models, to resell access, or to place automated load on the service.

Do not upload material you do not have the right to upload. You keep ownership of everything you upload; you grant us only the licence needed to store it and to deliver your lessons.

Academic honesty is your responsibility. Submitting Lumi's output as your own work may breach your school's or exam board's rules, and any consequences of that are set by them, not by us.

We may suspend or close an account that seriously or repeatedly breaches these rules. Where we can, we will tell you why and give you a chance to respond.

Plans, payment and fair use

The free plan is free and needs no payment details. It includes 3 lessons of up to 10 minutes each in total — a lifetime trial that does not reset. Paid plans are billed in advance, monthly or annually, and renew automatically until cancelled.

Paid plans include 120 minutes of tutoring per week. The allowance resets every Monday and does not roll over.

Prices are shown in pounds sterling and include VAT where it applies. If we change the price of your plan, we will give you at least 30 days' notice before it affects a renewal, and you may cancel before it does.

Cancellation and refunds

You can cancel at any time. Your access continues to the end of the period you have already paid for, and you are not charged again.

If you are a consumer in the UK, you have a statutory right to cancel within 14 days of subscribing. Because the service is available to you immediately, you agree that we may begin providing it during that period; if you then cancel within the 14 days we will refund the amount you paid, less a proportionate deduction for the use you have already had.

Availability

We work to keep Lumi available and running well, but we do not guarantee uninterrupted service. We may take it down for maintenance, and we will give notice where the work is planned.

We may change or withdraw features. If a change materially reduces what a paid plan gives you, you may cancel and we will refund the unused part of the period you have paid for.

Liability

We do not exclude or limit our liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, for fraud, or for anything else that cannot lawfully be excluded.

Subject to that, we are not liable for indirect or consequential loss, or for exam results, grades or academic outcomes. Our total liability to you in any twelve-month period is limited to the amount you paid us in that period.

If you use Lumi in the course of a business, we are not liable for loss of profit, business or anticipated savings.

Changes to these terms

We may update these terms. If a change materially affects you, we will email you at least 30 days before it takes effect, and you may cancel before it does. The date at the top of this page always reflects the current version.
