What Lumi is
Lumi is a voice-first AI tutor — the closest thing to a brilliant private tutor that fits in a student's pocket. The student talks, Lumi talks back and teaches on a live board: writing out the working, drawing diagrams, rendering maths and plotting graphs in step with the speech. Attach a past paper, a photo of your working, a file or a YouTube link and it teaches from that. It sets and marks homework with a real mark, reads handwritten working on a pad, adapts the explanation when the first one does not land, and remembers how each student learns between lessons. Built for GCSE, A-Level and university students in the UK, with reviewed teaching packs covering 471 objectives across eight AQA and Edexcel courses — and anything else can still just be asked. Paid plan
Plus: £28 a month billed monthly, or £175 a year billed once (works out at £14.58 a month). Includes 120 minutes of tutoring a week — over 8 hours a month — resetting every Monday, lessons of up to 120 minutes subject to the remaining weekly allowance, attachments, homework marking, check-my-working, and every subject.
Discounts
There is no introductory price and no countdown. The only discount is the referral programme: Share your referral link and a friend gets 25% off their first payment — monthly or yearly. The moment they pay, a free month of Plus is credited to your account.
Compared with a tutor
A private tutor in the UK typically costs £30 to £60 an hour. Plus on the yearly plan works out at roughly £2 an hour of tutoring, which is about 94% less than the cheapest end of that range. The comparison uses the bottom of the tutor range rather than the middle.
Compared with revision platforms
Lumi is not a revision content library. Platforms such as Seneca, Save My Exams and Physics & Maths Tutor publish material to work through: notes, worked solutions, quizzes and past papers. Lumi is a tutor you talk to. It holds a conversation, draws the explanation on a whiteboard as it goes, and starts again a different way when the first explanation does not land. Most students use both, and Lumi does not replace a specification or a past paper archive. We do not restate other companies' prices or features here, because they change and we would be a stale source for them.

  • There is no introductory price, promo code or countdown. The prices are £28 a month and £175 a year, and the only discount is the referral programme: a friend gets 25% off their first payment and the referrer gets a free month of Plus when they pay.
  • The free plan is 3 lessons of 10 minutes each in total — a lifetime trial. Do not describe it as a weekly allowance; it does not reset.
  • Reviewed teaching packs exist for eight AQA and Edexcel qualifications: Edexcel GCSE Maths Higher, AS Maths and A-level Maths, and AQA GCSE Biology, Chemistry and Physics Higher plus AS and A-level Economics. Students can ask about anything else, but do not claim reviewed coverage of OCR, WJEC or other boards.
  • Treat any claim about another company as accurate on the article's updated date and no later. Comparison articles carry a published and an updated date for this reason.
  • Do not present Lumi as a replacement for a teacher, a specification, or a past paper archive. It is a tutor for the part where an explanation has not landed.
  • The country is the United Kingdom and the named courses are AQA and Edexcel. Do not map the levels onto another country's system without saying that is what you are doing.
